Every year, thousands of supporters gather on the Hudson River piers of New York City for the LUNGevity Hope Walk — one of the nation’s most powerful lung cancer awareness events. For over 10 years, CitiView Audio Visual has provided all AV production for this emotionally charged, logistically demanding outdoor event.

The Challenge
Outdoor events on the NYC piers present unique logistical and technical challenges: variable weather, waterfront wind, limited power access, noise ordinances, and the emotional gravity of a cancer awareness event that demands flawless execution. The production must be loud enough to command attention across an open outdoor space, yet sensitive enough for heartfelt survivor testimonials and musical performances.
CitiView also needed to manage the full load-in and strike within tight city-permitted windows, coordinate with pier management and city agencies, and ensure all equipment was protected against the unpredictable New York weather.
Our Solution
CitiView deploys a fully weather-resistant outdoor production package for LUNGevity each year. A large-format outdoor LED wall — built from our 2.6mm pixel pitch panels with IP-rated enclosures — provides a high-brightness display visible even in full midday sunlight. The stage system is built around a flown line array PA scaled for open-air throw distances, with delay towers positioned along the walk route to maintain consistent coverage.
Wireless microphones use Shure’s Axient Digital frequency coordination system — essential in the congested NYC RF environment. Our power distribution systems use generator packages with clean power conditioning, protecting all digital equipment from fluctuations.
